God created every child with a unique set of skills, talents, and passions to be used to fulfill specific purposes in this world. That is why a major part of the best practices framework, interwoven through each of the other prongs (e.g., providing the children with Christian parents and a Bible-based education), is spiritual formation for each and every one of the children in the respective community.
We are working with pastors and other leaders in our La Providencia community and around the world to develop spiritual disciplines and practices that will create a healthy environment to raise up gospel-driven leaders from the orphan class. Such practices will enable the children to recognize and understand their special gifting, allowing them to “grow up in every way . . . into Christ,” and discern where their gifting fits into the body of Christ. (Ephesians 4:11-16). To reach this understanding, the children need to be discipled by pastors and other gospel-driven leaders who diligently teach the children Biblical truths as they grow up.
